My Birthday Presents!!!

My birthday is two weeks away and I have already received some fantastic presents.

Mike got me this very unique gift - bar soap from his trip to taiwan.

Damper Baby from Taipei 101. Very cute..how the eyes and mouth is made to represent 101.

I got these A n F stuff from Ken. So cool. Didnt expect the cologne, its nice.

Thanks guys for the gifts...really appreciate it. :)

Mamma Mia!!

Watched Mamma Mia!! last night with Mike and a group of frens at Cathay. The crowd was surprisingly small for saturday night. Maybe its the F1 race. I wasnt too keen about the show and for the beginning 20 mins I thought its going to suck. I wasnt really used to watching ordinary people talking halfway and then suddenly burst into songs and dance...seems so campy and Bollywood. But soon I was drawn by the energy of the movie and one person...Meryl Streep. She once again proven she can be anything. She is such a chameleon. The songs were great...I didnt realise alot of these songs which I have heard before somewhere are from Mamma Mia! They are catchy and funny at times. But the one song that nearly made me cried was when Meryl Streep sang "The Winner Takes it All". It was just heartwrenching. Here's a clip.

Zoe and Fann

Cant believe that they have to wait 14 years to act together again. But its better late than never. And at least Zoe no need to act as an auntie anymore but be what she does best...a ruthless career woman..cool!
I kinda grew up watching the two of them..Golden Pillow was like 14 years ago but its still one of the best drama I have watched. Mediacorp drama has become more and more stale and predictable with the seemingly never ending stock of family dramas. Finally something to look out for next year...A rehash of the Unbeatables to coincide with the opening of the Integrated Resort. Lee Nanxing teaming up with Zoe , Fann and Tay Ping Hui ...and not a sign of the over exposed and over rated 7 princesses...thank god!

Togi Korean Restaurant

Mike brought me to this Korean restaurant at Mosque street Chinatown two weeks back. I was abit apprehensive about eating korean food at first. Tried a few times...just not really my thing..maybe becos its spicy. When we reached there around 730pm, its already super packed. We have to settle for a table outside the restaurant. The female boss who is korean is so friendly and looks quite pretty. The restaurant serves authentic korean dishes and there were alot of koreans there having dinner as well.

The starters dishes were very nice...i liked all of them to my surprise.
I had Bibimbap and its my first time eating it. The picture doesnt look very appetising but it taste really good. The serving was quite big but i managed to finish everything. Its a little spicy but its nice.

This is the kimchi pancake...which Mike love..lol
Had a great time there and definitely dont mind going there again.
Nelson intro me to this nice place at Tanglin Mall last weekend - Caffe Beviamo. Its a cool place with lots of angmohs. They serve really good pastries and desserts.

Highly recommended...the Hummingbird cake. Its so delicious, once you start you cant stop.

The brownie is not bad too..very rich

I forgot whats the name for this...but its good as well..:-D
The main course is so-so...not too bad but not as great as the pastries.

Lumut again

Went to lumut again this week. This is the fifth time already and there is one more to go. I really dread going there because the journey on the car is like 8 hours. I really hate sitting on the car for so long. Too bad its for work and I cant do anything about it. The red line marks the journey to Lumut. Its almost three quarter the length of Malaysia. This is the final installation trip for my site work. After installing the anodes, this seems to be the moment of truth. It is the time to check whether what we have done for the past 3 months are working. Its really stressful. Going through each of the test stations and taking the readings. Sadly, most of the readings are below expectation. There are so many uncontrollable factors at site and I can only hope that one month later, I will get better readings after everything stabilises. If not there will be a whole lot of shit work...writing reports, remedial actions...excavation work...blah blah...its not going to be pretty.

The only consolation about my trip to Lumut each time is that I get to eat seafood..for free! Hehe. We will drive around and try different places for lunch and dinner. Some were good some were bad but most important its free....lol ...Sounds like a typical cheapo.
The seafood "restaurant" are all at these kind of kampong kampong houses. Not really my idea of a restaurant. Basically you dine with lots of flies around you sometimes mosquitoes as well.

Black Pepper Crab!! I love crab...somehow I think its not as nice as those I tried in Singapore.

Egg yolk prawns

That funny looking thing on the left is fried oyster. So different from Singapore version. Its very crispy but taste abit bland.

Asam stingray...this one is nice...very fresh ..not too spicy for me. hehe

We ate at so many places but I only remember to take these few dishes...lol. Anyhow, still got another trip to go :( Maybe will take more photos next time.

Why time passes by so quickly....

The past two weeks passed by so quickly and its nearing the end of September already. I will miss the time I spent with my best fren. We met almost everyday, just sitting down at foodcourt chatting, walking around, clubbing...it was so fun and so much better talking in person than through msn. Too bad you cant stay longer ...Hey, thanks for the gifts you gave me...super early birthday presents..lol. Hope you will come back soon and not 2 years later! Take care in China and wherever you are going.

Chill out at Robertson Quay

Met my best fren ken on saturday. Havent met him for a year plus. We hanged out the whole day....took him to so many places I almost became a tour guide. But he intro me to a very nice japanese cafe at Robertson Quay. Took us quite some time searching for it..we even asked direction from Jamie Yeo. Bumped into her and she was surprisingly friendly and helpful.

The waiters there were real japanese and the ambience was great. A really nice and quiet place to chill out on a saturday afternoon.

Cam-whoring..lol

Hit by a bus

I knew something in my body is ticking for the past few weeks. Yesterday the bomb finally exploded. Down with fever, throat inflammation and cough. Slept the whole of yesterday and today. Felt like I have been hit by a bus...my whole body is aching and like all the energy been drained from it. Maybe its not a bad thing, I can take this opportunity to get all the rest I need. hehe. Time to recharge!!
