Worst movie I have ever watched....

Went to watch a movie yesterday with Vince...not myself..but my uni fren with the same name. There were not many shows to watch as Spidey 3 was filling up most of the screens and I have already watched that. In the end, I was persuaded to watch 28 weeks later. I am not really into horror movies, I mean most of them are just mindless slasher pics with gore and not much of a plot, BUT 28 weeks later sure outdid every movie in this genre by its sheer stupidity. What a horrible piece of crap this show was that I really wanted to walk out of the theatre 30mins into the movie. Its predictable, loud, lame and plain stupid. I didnt watch the original "28 days later" but if it is as stupid as this, then no thanks. The movie started from the end of the first movie with a whole new group of victims. I guess the original cast - Cillian Murphy realised how crappy this movie is going to be before everyone else did. Anyway, this movie is full of the usual horror formula - Sudden loud bangs/screams...and the best formula used in all disaster or horror movies - stupid runaway kids. You know those kids who will do just the things you tell them not to. Basically, everyone in Britain were infected with this virus that turns them into walking flesh hungry zombies. In the end, everyone died and all these zombies died of starvation months later and lo and behold Uncle Sam comes to the rescue and set up a quarantine area in London. Soon people were allowed back to London to live in this quarantine zone and no one is supposed to cross the river to the other side. And guess what? The two kids did just that on their second day there just so that the boy can go back to his old house and get a picture of his mum. They sneaked past all the military personnel, snipers so effortlessly you laugh at what they mean by quarantine. Where the hell are the barb wires? In the end, the kids got more than they asked for back home - their mum who was biten but not turned into a zombie. And what they do next? They bring her right into the quarantine zone. So what happeed next were just plain ridiculous...father heard about mum, mum had virus in body but also had some form of immunity, father went to find her, and knowing so well about what happened, he decided to kiss her. Yeah, kiss her, can anyone be more stupid? And how did the father, a plain civilian has an all-access pass that allowed him to go through all security doors to his wife? And if she is someone so dangerous, why isnt there a single guard standing outside the room? So father turns into a zombie and kills everyone in sight. Quarantine breeched, lol, what quarantine?..and the military personnel decided to ask everyone in the zone to gather at a underground carpark and lock everyone inside before clearing that area..how convenient...and guess what? Daddy's there....and soon you get a whole street of zombies. Thats the whole idea. Everyone killing everybody. So whats next? Kill everyone..infected, uninfected. Bombs...poison gas...and our male lead (father) managed to escape all that. In the end, the two stupid kids who started all these were the only two survivors, and they were told to meet this guy who will pick them up at the stadium ..randomly, i mean it could be any place in London and the guy just said "Meet me at the stadium"..and amazingly, Daddy's there again! What are the odds man..this film just annoyed me from the start till the end. No logic, no story, no acting, just plain gore,blood and I dont know what. Unless you have money to spare or you are just plain stupid, avoid this movie at all costs.

Spidey 3...The greatest battle lies within

Too much of a good thing may not be the best thing. Thats what happened to SpiderMan 3. Spiderman 1 was nice, Spiderman 2 was awesome...Spiderman 3 was just...alright. I went to watch on the opening day with quite high expectations..afterall this is the "rumoured" final episode in the spiderman series at least with the original cast members and also it took 3 years to make this compared to 2 years for spidey 2 which was great. However, it seems that the director got lost in this one. Trying too hard to introduce as many villians and characters at once probably knowing this is the last one he is directing. Alot of storylines seemed underdeveloped at the end and characters totally wasted. The much anticipated Venom was quite a disappointment considering it only appeared in the final half hour of the movie and didnt do much damage. The part about Gwen Stacy was also quite redundant. The special effects in this one seemed abit inferior compared to the second one. The much talked about "birth of sandman" sequence still looked very CG. The fight scenes this time round looked extremely jerky and badly choreographed. Lots of bumping around and you cant really see what was happening at times. Perhaps the best part of the show was how they resolved the Harry and Peter conflict..thats what I like most. The surprise ending is a clear indication that at least some people will not be coming back for Spidey 4 if there is one. Overall, its a good movie but just not up to expectations..anyhow its still a worthy ending to a great Spiderman trilogy.

Titanic...

This year is the 10th year anniversary of the release of the all time blockbuster "Titanic". A worldwide boxoffice of 1.8 billion, 14 Academy awards nominations, 11 wins..till now its still the all time champ. It was such a phenomenon when it was released back in 1997...and I was one of those who got hooked. I watched the movie 7 times in the theatre...got the collector edition dvd, posters, postcards, screenplay, books and I even made a model of the titanic.

Till now its the only movie I can watch over and over again and not feel bored. The cinematography, the visual effects and the story, its historically accurate backstory and the director's attention to detail is simply amazing. The first movie to break the 200 million production budget but also the first movie to shatter all boxoffice records including the 1 billion dollar mark. This is one film that truly deserves all the awards it was given... at least IMHO.

Dragonball....

Dragonball...Started reading this comic when I was in Secondary 1..and from then on I was hooked...bought the whole set of comics...posters, cards, vcds...I was quite a bai jia zi when I was young, most of my pocket money went into turning out dragonball cards at those card machines...I still have all my prism cards nicely arranged in my card albums...all 200 over of them. lol. I bought these super cute figurines when I was in Hong Kong...so nice...

My priced possessions...

Its summer ! Its the time of the blockbusters....Spiderman 3 is coming on May 1st and I have already booked my seats on that day, yipee! Its been 5 years since Spidey 1 came out, I remember I watched it after my last paper in year 1...Spidey 2, I watched it with my best fren ...the popcorn box and coke paper cup with Spidey on it are still on display in my bedroom...together with my movie collections...Heres a pic...

Things/People that annoy me...

Read the cover story on 8 days last week..."50 things that annoy us" I couldnt agree more with some..so I decided to come up with my own list......

1. People who stopped at the end of the escalator deciding where to go. Just walk on you moron. There are tons of people behind you, inconsiderate idiot. Same goes for people who walk into the MRT train and stop right at the door.

2. People who give out flyers. Please spare a thought for the trees. Nobody is really interested in what you are giving out. It will most probably end up in the dustbin 5 minutes after you hand it out.

3. People who ask you to stop for a survey. Enough already! Every weekend, every mrt station...how many times do you have to ask me how much I spend each month, which bank I put my money in. When I walk past you with my earphones on, doesnt that simply show "DONT TALK TO ME!" ? Why approach me still?

4. Parents who cant shut their kids up in the theatre. If you have kids under 5 yrs old, please go get dvds and watch at home...its cheaper and you probably will annoy less people. Your kids most likely are not interested in the show anyway..and dont even think about explaining to them what just happened even though they asked...

5. The dance floor and the judges. Its a torture...having to watch the trailer during every commercial segment. Especially when it begins with the irritating "em che ah, em che ah..." And those judges....stop trying so hard...especially Wong Lilin..we know you can dance but are you really that good? Do you have to be so mean just for the sake of being mean?

6. Encore telecast of mediacorp shows...Why are they always bringing back horrible shows insisting that they are back by popular demand? Since when was there popular demand? I bet you didnt have enough shows to fill the timeslot so you decided to bring back "Maggi and me". As if the encore telecast of True Files and Missing on Ch 5 are not enough...they have to bring the show back on ch 8 in mandarin and then do an encore telecast again... thats like 4 times!

7. Gurmit Singh and PCK. First season...funny, second season...lame...third season...boring...fourth season...irritating...fifth season... I feel ashamed to be a Singaporean because I dont understand why they made you a Singapore Icon. I am glad they finally decided to axe you and your stupid show but they should axe you completely too...Gurmit Singh, you are so over-rated. You cant even host Singapore Idol properly, you should just hide yourself in those yellow boots.

8. Miss Universe. Why waste money hosting this event every year when you know that the eventual winner will not last more than 5 mins in the actual show against the other contestants. Why waste so much effort when you set the qualifying standard so low. And stop trying to convince us those are really the prettiest girls you can find in Singapore by showing us clips every 15 mins.

9. Bus drivers who like to jam the brakes ever so often...your passengers are trying so hard not to fall everytime you reach a bus-stop or the red lights.

10. My mum. She annoys me on a daily basis...Telling me her life story every day from 1970 - 2007....even though I have already heard them like 1000 times. She even declares she wants to live with me when I get my own apartment! God help me....

11. People who walk into a lift and expect the door to close by itself...well it will eventually..but it wouldnt hurt to press the 'door close' button right?

12. Allan Wu. He cant act, he cant host (watch amazing race asia), he cant speak mandarin properly...why the hell is he still in mediacorp?

13. People who decided to deposit tons of cash into different accounts and then update several bank books at the Cash Deposit Machine.

14. Orchard Cineleisure. For deciding to charge a "BLOCKBUSTER FEE" on this year's crop of summer movies like "Spiderman 3, shrek 3, transformers, pirates of the caribbean...." What the fuck?

15. Hawkers selling bad food. They should try their own food before selling them.

New Haircut...

I always like to have long hair...I thought I look better with long hair....I always like to dye my hair....I thought I look better with brown hair too...but all of a sudden...I decided to cut my hair short and dye it black. A change of taste...sometimes, things can change so suddenly...U can like something, someone...and everything just changed overnight...So today I said goodbye to my long brown hair...

Still trying to get used to it...havent had short hair for such a long time..I guess alot of things u just need to get used to it.. and everything will be just fine...new hairstyle....new beginning.

Sun and Moon and my new sunglasses

Today, I sneaked out for a break. I am not supposed to but its just too boring at home. Its the Good Friday long weekend and I will be damned if I stayed home all three days. So I went on my own food escapade today. My fren introduced me to this Japanese restaurant at Wheelock Place called Sun and Moon. It looked rather nice and was super crowded. We had to wait 20mins before we got our seats. I ordered a Hassai Bento Set which cost me about 32.50. The Hassai Bento Set...I was amazed I actually finished it all by myself. It comes with udon, a free drink and a green tea ice cream for dessert.

Its absolutely worth the money...you have salmon sashimi, scallop, fried beancurd, teriyaki chicken, crab salad, sushi, unagi and egg and also tempura! The salmon and scallop are so fresh...oishii!!

My fren ordered this...look at the color of the beef...according to him, its really good as well. Only after eating I realised I did what I am absolutely not supposed to do...According to my mum or the chinese medicinal beliefs, if you had a surgery, you are supposed to avoid "poisonous" food like seafood, egg, dark soy sauce and yam...they are absolute NO NO after an operation...I totally forgot about it and I ate them all in one shot! Tempura, raw salmon, teriyaki sauce, egg...oh shit...god help me!After eating and feeling like I had lunch and dinner at the same time...I went shopping to burn away the calories...I so need to get myself a pair of sunglasses. My dad is trying to get me to wear his own pair of ah pek sunglasses and my mum gave me her gold rimmed sunglasses to wear...what were they thinking! In the end I bought this pair of Versus sunglasses for $225 ...feeling really guilty for spending so much....have to go on bread and butter for the next few weeks.

孫燕姿-逆光

逆光 , Stefanie latest album. Waited a year plus for her album and it seems everyone in the industry is judging her popularity based on this album...Her last album 完美的一天 , I thought was one of her better albums but it was her worse in sales. Other than 2 fast tracks, most of the other songs are slow, which seems to be the theme of this album...slow, soothing and touching. My favorite track is track number 5 我懷念的. The lyrics is so beautifully written and she sang it with such emotions it just makes you extremely sad. Definitely an album worth waiting a year for and still the best singer to come out from Singapore.

However, I was shocked to see her second and third week album sales in taiwan actually lost to our very own Ms Sun Ho who is into her 4th and 5th week! Unbelieveable!! Never underestimate the power of City Harvest people. Their strength stretches all the way to Taiwan...unimaginable. Cant believe she actually told the media she was sexually abused when she was young in order to get onto the headlines and boost her album sales. What cheap and shameless tactics and I guess its paying off for her.

Confinement...

Slept so much yesterday until I woke up at 3 am this morning...Kept tossing around trying to sleep...woke up so many times and finally it was 6am. Got my first review at 815 so I woke up early to prepare...The swollen feeling is gone and my vision is very clear today..Its quite an amazing experience...less than 24 hrs ago, I never had such clear vision without my spectacles , not even with my contact lenses. Felt so good...lol. Waited an hr plus before the doctor came and after a brief look at my eyes..he said "OK very good!, see you in two weeks time"..sometimes dont you feel its great being a doctor...you keep people waiting for hours and then you just say a few sentences and you charge them a bomb.
Its the long weekend and I am confined at home...cant go out...cant even wash my hair and wash my face..haha..feeling a little dirty. lol...

Perfect vision

I have waited for this day...and today is the day! I went for my lasik surgery...Was quite nervous at first but everything went smoothly. The whole operation took about 15mins and is quite painless. Just a slight discomfort when they put someting around your pupil and applied a suction force. Then a layer of cornea is cut and you actually see the surgeon peel the cornea off...then you hear the sound of the laser go 'ta ta ta ta" for about 10 seconds and its done! After I got up from my surgery chair, I could immediately see the difference.. I could see words far away clearly although still alittle blur due to the operation...Now my vision is very near to perfect...I guess it takes time to adjust and heal but it feels great! This is how I look now...haha...look like The Fly..but thats just temporary..

Goodbye...my ugly spectacles and my last few pairs of disposable contacts....hope I will nvr need you both ever again.

A little nervous...

Going for my lasik surgery in a an hour's time. Feeling a little nervous now...Cant wait to throw away my spectacles! Hehe, the world will be clearer soon..

End of elementary ...moving on to intermediate?

Today I took my exam for Japanese language elementary 2 course...think I did well, should be able to pass. Its not that difficult actually, lots of hints were given. Cant believe I actually had the determination to complete 2 courses in 6 months..normally I am like 'San Fen Zhong Re Du"...Now I am not sure if I want to continue and move on to intermediate class. Well the test was simple, but the actual understanding, speaking is a totally different story. I realised its not as simple as I thought...and I dont want to end up hating it..So silly..haha, I started taking the course for fun...never thought of doing it all the way..but should I? Hmm..
