Day 6 and Final Day in Tokyo...Satisfied.

My final day in Tokyo...I still have some places to go and I was not going to waste time. So I woke up at 4am in the morning and headed straight to Tsukiji Fish Market.

Funny that I stayed in Singapore for 27 years and I didnt even bother to go to Fish Market. But I am sure over at Tsukiji there is more stuff to look at and definitely more variety of seafood.

How can I come here without trying their sushi. I picked this one with a lot of newspaper cutting outside...
These few pieces cost me 2400yen about 30 plus sgd....ouch! But its very very fresh and tasty.
Then I took a half hour walk to get a glimpse of Rainbow Bridge.

After a good morning walk...I went back to check out then headed to my last stop before I leave tokyo - Sunshine City.

Went to their aquarium which had a very good collection of sea creatures and other animals...

Penguins!!! Arent they adorable....
I dont know what animal is this but its really cute

Then there was a 15min animal show which was very entertaining. These seals are really smart!
Then there is a very interesting indoor amusement park called Namja Town. Where you can eat and play. They have....

Ice cream city where there are so many types of ice cream for you to choose ..

Gyoza town...The entire street selling different types of Gyoza...

And there is arcade, and dessert town...and ghost street..and other weird games to play... really cool place.

Before I left...I saw the icon itself...dont know her name but she is cute...those eyes...

Thats the end of my stay in Tokyo...:)

Back in the states..

Second day in New Orleans..my exhibition is going to start today after the opening last evening. Its quite an eye-opener here...meeting people from all over the places and talking about corrosion. Man, I didnt know there are so many people in this field. Anyway, New Orleans is quite exciting. Coincidentally, last night was St. Patricks Day and we went over to the French Quarters for dinner and it was damn happening! The crowd was amazing and the people were super "high". People dressed up in different kind of green, different kind of costume...some didnt really dressed up much..lol. There were bars, strip clubs, sex shop all over the street. Its unbelieveable that this is the same place that was ravaged by Hurricane Katrina 2 years back. Although most of the restoration works are completed, I can still see vast areas submerged in water from the plane on the way here. But people here are handling quite well, they even have a Hurricane tour here. Will add all the pictures I took when I get back...cheers!On the way to New Orleans, the mountains along the western coast of america are so beautiful.

The view from my hotel room. Thats the SuperDome in the background.

The exhibition hall...just a quarter of it.

One of the restaurants on Bourbons Street in New Orleans. Had dinner there and it was really fantastic. I like the buildings in the french quarters...love the balcony in each block.

Some street performers...this guy who looks like he is walking actually stood really still ...didnt move an inch ..
The crowd was incredible on Bourbons Street on the nite of St Patrick's day. Everyone was absolutely wild...even the police joined in the fun.
One of the sex shops featuring " World Famous Love Acts" on the left.

Mississippi River just behind our convention hall
One of the shops in the shopping center selling accessories and costumes for Mardi Gras.
Canal Street
Jackson Square and St Louis Cathedral in the background.

Places I have been to and places I am going....

I have been to quite alot of places the past two weeks...new ones , old ones..thanks to a new fren found...I got the chance to visit all these places...

Like the Equinox...never imagined I will be able to go up there to have dinner..lol. Its always a place I wanted to go ...view the scenery from the top but the $$$ keeps me away. Had a wonderful time there and even got a super belated birthday celebration...lol.

I had a much earlier than anticipated visit to the Singapore Flyer and it was enjoyable to my surprise ...to be trapped in a capsule with 10 over strangers, 165m above ground. The ride was about 45 mins and cost $29.50 if you do not know already. Its quite an experience although I dont think I will be visiting anytime soon again. Maybe after the casino is up and there are more things to see. Meanwhile..here are the pics.

I also went to Kranji reservoir for the first time. Its super ulu ...behind Gedong camp...Neo Tiew....We bumped into a few NS guys on duty...poor thing..all becos of one stupid Mas Selamat.
Dont have any pics to show cos there isnt much to take...lol.

Passed by my old tengah depot on the way...So much have changed...kinda missed that place.

Been to the new Changi Terminal 3 too. Its a very beautiful place. Love the design of it..

So bright..so clean...so Singapore...;p

Sidetrack abit...didnt realise I captured the father and his son on the right...This is what is happening to our society now...Kids nowadays are soo bloody pampered. Look at the tired-looking father pushing that trolley with his son playing game on it. Really sad man, what kind of kids are we bringing up? Cannot walk ah? Pai kah ah?

Anyway, I am going back to the airport again tonight to take my flight to New Orleans...will be back in 2 weeks time! Too bad not taking my flight from the new terminal 3...oh well...there will always be next time. :)

My Tokyo Itinerary

After weeks of planning, I finally got my tokyo travel plan done. Yipee!!

The passing of Lydia...

I was quite shocked and sad when I saw the news that Lydia Sum aka Fei Fei has passed away. Although its been well known that she has been battling cancer for the past few months, her death still came as a shocking piece of news. I last saw her on TV last november when she received a lifetime achievement award by TVB. She came out on a wheelchair looking half her usual size. It was a rather sad moment and I knew it will not be long. Maybe I was used to seeing her bubbly, loud and happy image on tv. I remember watching her shows when I was young. Though I am not a huge fan, she is still quite a likeable hongkong veteran artiste to me. Her death serves as a reminder how fragile life can be. Only a year back she was perfectly ok, then she discovered she has cancer and then now she is gone. ...sigh...life is so unpredictable.

Shopping spree

Went for my basic theory evaluation today..hehe..I passed. lol. Going to take the test in March. one step at a time towards my license...

I took bus 187 to BBDC this morning and I cant believe that this kind of bus is still in use. Seriously, after increasing our fare every year, they still dare to let this kind of 1970s bus go on the road. Although they refitted the bus and made it air conditioned...its still a freaking old bus. So poor meh, SMRT?

*****

Bought so much stuff during the weekend. I think I spent almost 1.5k in a day.All my goods...lol...Never knew shopping can be so fun. I never splurge like this before. Feels so shiok....at least until i receive my credit card bill.

Of nude pics and crazy kaypoh guy

I guess the hottest tabloid news for the past few weeks must be the accidental exposure of edison raunchy sex pics with numerous female celebrities including one of the singer of Twins. Everyday, the newspaper headlines will be about the latest development of this scandal. Actually everybody says those ladies involved are victims..but I dun think so. Seriously, they are old enough to think for themselves. They know what they are doing and they know the consequences when they took those pics. It was just unfortunate they trusted a dimwit like edison who decided to send his laptop for servicing before clearing all these stuff. And as usual our ever so kaypoh Steven Lim from Singapore want to "chap ji kah" in this and made a vomit-inducing video. He really love to hog the lime light man. This guy is insane..why is he still not in woodbridge yet?

A not very Happy Chinese New Year...

My Chinese New Year began with a bang...alot of bang...or maybe it should be "poop". Just after having my reunion dinner and I was happily lying on my bed watching tv, waiting for the year of the Rat to arrive...suddenly fever hit me..then i felt nauseous..then diarhoea..my mum also got the same thing. I couldnt sleep the whole night..then next day went to NUH where they put me on drip. I was thinking, first day of new year go hospital really is "大吉大利" . Hope all the bad luck will go away...GO GO GO!!
Me waiting for the doctor to come

Just something i realised, once every few years, i will happen to go to NUH...and everytime i go there, it looks like a totally different place to me. The interior will be renovated , rooms changed, everything changed...just wondering is it necessary to renovate the hospital every few years..I mean its a waste of money. Shouldnt the money to be put to better use? Or is that the reason why our medical fees keep on increasing?

****

So basically I spent the first two days of my CNY resting at home watching boring mediacrap TV. Why are we watching re-runs after re-runs of drama, movies, sitcoms even on special holidays like this. Scorpion King? Spiderman? Lucky I have SCV if not I will be bored to death at home.

****

Went to my boss 50th wedding aniversary dinner at grand shanghai restaurant at Grand Corpthorne Hotel. 50 years, its quite amazing for a marriage to last that long and I really admire them. Sometimes I look at my parents and I wish it ended years ago. Seriously, not that I am 黑心 but they are really unbearable. Sometimes I question why did they even get married. If they tell me they are getting a divorce now, I will be the first person to say "Great! Go ahead!". Which was why I was a little jealous when I was at the dinner...seeing my boss's family...three generation..all looking so happy. Anyway, it was an enjoyable night with good food even though my tummy was still recovering from the trauma it suffered earlier.

****

After staying home for so many days... I told myself ..I MUST GO OUT !!! so..on sunday i went out on a shopping spree...spent over 600 bucks hehe...on cologne, bag and shoes. Wanted to buy more but the shops were closing already.

My leather bag from Fossil, shoes from Pedro and CK Eternity and Feragamo F.

Just felt like pampering myself...since I just got my bonus. I am normally quite thrifty :-o

No more lanjiaowei...

Its been a year plus since I started my first post here. I wonder who have been reading my blog all these while...lol...well at least I know at least got 5 people read. Sometimes I wonder if I am writing to the wall...I mean, my blog or my life is not very interesting to begin with ...but what the heck..even if no one reads, its rather nice for me to keep track of my own life...my memories...

Anyway, my blog title is a little crude...totally not me...lol. I got that name cos I cant think of anything else..and my fren Tim always say I talk alot of cock...aka...lanjiaowei..so I guess ..why not? Apparently thats a very bad idea....so I decided to revamp my blog...and also get rid of that crude little name...so now it is still called mind-field.blogspot.com...lol.

So to those frens out there who still read my blog...thanks for reading such a boring blog....but...keep reading!! Well we are all busy men and women now...not much time to meet up...so if you see my posts, at least you know I am still alive and kicking....and still full of lanjiaowei....sorry. To those not reading my blog....well if you are not reading my blog...I believe I cant say much to you also....

Okay, Chinese New Year coming soon...so let me wish you guys a very happy and prosperous Lunar New Year!! Gong Xi Fa Cai!! Cheers!

Tokyo here I come!!!

Woohoo, didnt expect I can go to tokyo this year. I was just planning for taiwan and australia this year. But I was thinking since I am stopping over at tokyo on my way back from New Orleans, I might as well take this opportunity and stay for a few days....and my boss okay my request! lol. Feeling excited. I should start doing research and brush up my long rusty elementary japanese. Tokyo here I come!

Close encounter with....Zoe Tay!

Those who know me long enough knows that I am a huge fan of Zoe Tay ...lol. Today I am so happy I got the invite to her Birthday party at intercontinental hotel and get to meet her in person...up close and personal. She is still so beautiful for her age and super friendly.

New Year Countdown at Ritz Carlton

So happy I get to spend New Year Eve at Ritz Carlton...watching fireworks from above away from the crowd. NICE...Damn I feel like a rich man

Beautiful view from the room.

The casino construction on the right. This is the first time I get to view the entire construction site like this. Quite excited about how the finished casino will look.

The fireworks for the night...It should be much longer but I screwed up the filming of the first part. And those silly people at the back from Ammo Base talk so much crap and make so much noise during the show...irritating.
