Boobs galore!

Went to watch "Curse of the golden flower" yesterday...Didnt have much expectation as I have watched "Hero" and "House of Flying daggers" and was totally bored to tears. To my surprise, this one was quite easy to follow...not becos of the boobs...haha. But there were really so many scenes with bouncing boobs that its abit difficult to concentrate on the story. Gong li acting was really good and in my opinion way better than Zhang ziyi who is so over rated. Jay chou was just....funny. His acting was okay, not that there were alot of scenes for him to act in the first place. But the funny thing was, everytime he comes on screen or makes an expression, the entire theatre will laugh! I guess everyone just went to see how bad Jay's acting was...which is quite a sad thing considering he is not a professional actor. Acting beside Gong li and Chow Yun Fatt just makes him look like a golden prop. The story was quite similar with a show I watched recently...."The banquet"...too similar in fact...incest, betrayal, plotting against the king...and alot of ballet-like fighting sequences...I feel that asian directors are trying to hard to impress the people in Hollywood..and all these ancient epics with elaborate sets and fanciful fight scenes just get a little too artificial..Face it Zhang Yimou, there can only be one Ang Lee..

Lonely Christmas...

Wat a boring christmas.. got no one to go out with..:( Sigh, spent the past two days watching dvds and sleeping. Tomorrow is working day again...Cant believe I spent my christmas holidays like that...sian

My mum...

Took my mum to the clinic a few months back...and the doctor asked her to get a blood pressure monitoring device..she refuse to buy cos its 90 bucks...then she say i got bonus ask me buy for her...So yesterday I got one for her and this is what i got this morning...

Mum: Wah! 146 so high....I am dying liao....I dont believe... (Put it on and try again)
Mum: This thing is so stupid...why must put on the left hand...cannot put on the right hand...
Mum: Wah! now 136....this thing is not accurate one! (Try again)
Mum: 134! ok...much better...still quite high...

A week in review....looking forward to 2007

Wow..the last time I blogged was 10th December...hmmm. Think I lost the motivation to write...or maybe my life is just too boring.

Tuesday...

Watched Eragon with Eileen..Haha hey Bubbles, thanks for inviting me and remember to remind me to return you the money hor! In case I forget...Eragon was quite a bad movie....IMHO...Its definitely not Lord of the Rings material ..not even Harry Potter...maybe my expectation was too high. ..But I really thought it could be better. The movie was too rushed and the dialogue sucked so bad I thought I was watching a video game. The final battle felt like the director ran out of budget and just wanted to finish the film as quickly as possible...and he did! The movie was just 1 and half hour! The ending opened up the opportunity for a sequel which makes me wonder....after this sh*t would anyone want to watch the sequel?

Wednesday...

Met my fren Julius to buy his homemade truffles for my other fren...He is selling his own brand of chocolate truffles at the age of 21! Really impressive and his chocolates are not bad...I have tasted and my fren also says its nice! Haha...abit of a promotion here but do give his chocolates a try if you are craving for chocolates or just running out of gift ideas.

His website is : http://juliustruffles.blogspot.com/ Feel free to take a look!

Thursday....

Its been so long since I last met my secondary school frens...and on thursday I met two of them...Aaron and Adrian. Had our dinner at Ding Tai Feng. It was a nice gathering and we had quite a lot to talk about even though its been like 4 yrs since I last met Aaron. But have to say Ding Tai Feng sucks. Hahaha....I mean Crystal Jade noodles are okay but at least its xiao long bao is really good...but at DTF...nothing was nice...the noodles was so bland and the xiao long bao was...just xiao. I really wonder why people queue up for such mediocre food ..That was going to be my first and my last time there.

Friday....

Had half a working day in the morning and then had christmas lunch and then games and karaoke at Orchid Country Club...As usual, catered lunch at my company is nthing great...but not too bad this time...I mean I had worse...imagine...tzi char... roast duck...laksa in lunch boxes for company lunch..at least this time it was buffet style. I was really abit sian when I heard we had to play games...I mean com' on...we are so old oreadi still play those 'orientation games'? But it turned out quite fun..bursting balloons...musical chairs...lol ...though childish but it was the first time me and my colleagues really let our hair down and just have some fun. Not too bad at all...

Today....

Went for my medical checkup for my insurance policy early in the morning..woke up at 630 just to be there at 8am! @#$%@ And my insurance agent didnt even accompany me! haha I heard from the nurse that usually the agent will be "nice" and accompany their client for the checkup. Luckily...my fren keith was kind enough to accompany me and the waiting was not that boring with someone to talk to...after that I walked from orchard to plaza sing to bugis to settle quite a number of things...Open new bank account...did a standing order for mthly funds transfer...paid my credit card bills...and then to complain about my pacific internet bill...really f**king pissed with them. Called in June to cancel my email spam guard which cost me 4 bucks a month...and I totally not using it...then the bill in july still reflect it..called and emailed them again...they told me maybe they still processing so next month shd be cancelled...then again..reflected in my August bill....by then I really cant be bothered liao...then last mth I decided to terminate my subscription and I told the lady about it and she told me "Oh, I will write down for you and next month they will refund you the amount you paid since June" ....then later I received a bill again asking me to pay 4 bucks again for the month of december! F**king lousy service man! Pacific Internet ...Pui! Not that I bother about the 4 bucks a month..but its just pisses me off that after all that trouble and nothing is done!

Tomorrow....

Tomorrow is christmas eve...as usual I have nothing to do again..bought some dvds so probably I will just stay at home and watch them...At least I get to rest on Monday...after working so hard for the past month I seriously need a rest and hopefully get a big fat bonus next month! haha..Hi boss are u reading my blog?

7 more days to 2007....Japanese language course 2 starting in February...then Hongkong trip in April....My NACE course in June (If I still around in my company) ...and New York Trip follows... cant wait...

10 December 2006

So tired...

Havent update for quite some time...been so busy for the past week..My manager was on leave the whole week, things kept coming in, then have to go for some exhibition at Suntec..the week passed by in a flash! And all my work are still undone! OMG..tomorrow is the start of a new week and I hope i am able to clear all my stuff out soon. My bosses are all on holiday till january..if only i can too..sigh...three more weeks to 2007 and then I shall take my long awaited break...muahahaha.

Creative advertising

I think we really need some creative commercials in Singapore. Most of our local ones are just crap. Like the latest tv mobile one...wonder which advertising company came up with that..I like this one...very funny.

These two are not bad too.....

Vivocity

Finally, after much procrastination, I went to Vivocity yesterday. My friend always ask me why I want to go vivocity so much....I guess I wanted to see how different it is from other shopping centre in Singapore..I want to see the rooftop which I think is quite special. But I didnt go there just to walk around...I went to sign up for my Starhub maxonline plan. It was such a terrible idea. I waited from 2pm till 5pm just to get my number called!! Wasted my whole saturday...took time to walk around vivocity which turned out to be quite a disappointment. There were too many people and its so difficult to walk around without bumping into others. The walkway is too narrow and the design is quite dumb. You have to walk one big round to get from one place to another on the second floor. To me, the main attraction is the rooftop. The view is quite beautiful especially now that the haze is gone.

There is a mini swimming pool although I seriously doubt it was meant to be a swimming pool.

You feel like you are walking on a boat deck up there...enjoying the seabreeze..its quite a nice place to relax. Maybe I will come again in a few months when its not so crowded.

Spidey's BACK!

Next summer is going to be so cool! So many great movies coming out ...Harry Potter and the Order of the Pheonix, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End, Shrek the Third and of course Spider-man 3!!!

05 November 2006

HAPPY FEET!

This year end slate of movies are so boring...Casino royale? Yawn... what else? Oh my I cant even think of one movie I want to watch ...except ...this! HAPPY FEET! I think its so cool! The penguins are so adorable as always!

Show me the money!!!

All of a sudden, like I am awoken from a deep sleep..I realised I have not made any plans for my future! No insurance, no savings..nothing! So I met up with my financial planner on saturday to discuss about my insurance policy and investment plan...We had lunch at this place at Paradiz called Tao's...Its a seven course lunch for 20 bucks..which I think its quite worth it...although this time its free..haha..courtesy of my financial planner! lol. Anyway the food is not bad, with soup, dessert...specially brewed tea. I think the yam ice cream is very nice!! Too bad I forgot to take a picture!

After that, I went to apply for 3 credit cards! haha..I used to think credit cards are not necessary..I mean I have my atm card, thats all I need! But my frens made me realise what I am missing out...the privileges, the rebates, the discounts blah blah..so after thinking for a while..I thought why not? Just hope that I wont overspend..haha.

Pissed

I am so pissed with my parents sometimes I wished they were dead...I mean, I really feel I could do without them and live my life happier. Not that I am a beast or what but they are really $!#!%!^. My fren always say I complain so much but in the end I also never do anything..so what exactly can I do? Kill them? Poison them? Leave them? I will leave them, but I need to be able to afford my own place first...I am just so sick and tired of bearing the burden of the family...like I am the only son. My elder brother is nvr back, my younger brother is always too young..for godsake he is oreadi 21! So I have to do everything...if I dont, I get nasty remarks from them. What is their fucking problem? I mean, everyday I come back from work and I still have to endure your constant quarrels..if you guys hate each other so much just hack each other to death and I will pick up the pieces! I hate my family..I never talk to my elder bro and my younger bro doesnt talk to me. Whats wrong with everyone? We are like strangers living under one roof. When will I ever get to leave them? Whose mother will demand money from her son immediately after he start work and then complain that its not enough! Whose mother will ask her son to go learn driving and get a car so that he can fetch her around? Whose mother will fuck u for not bringing her to the doctor because you have to work that day? I mean am I the only son? I told her my younger bro can bring her...and she said "He is still so young, he will know what to do meh? " Then all the nasty remarks about me being unfilial...wtf?! Whose mother will demand present for mother's day and her birthday and will kick up a big fuss if you dont get her anything? When will you just die? Please let the day come fast.

Korean...

I am starting to like everything korean...haha..Think it started with Full house, then My lovely Sam soon and now Goong...Well, years ago, I watched a very impressive korean film called "Brotherhood"..Now I am listening to korean songs everyday! Maybe I should learn korean after my jap class..."Kajah, Kajah, FIGHTING!"

30 October 2006

Cats....

Yesterday, I was feeling so tired when I was coming back home from my japanese class...but my mood was so much better when I saw this when I entered the lift...

This cute cat was inside the lift, apparently enjoying the ride....I dont know how long it was in there or how long it stayed after I left but it was so funny...haha. I love cats..I dont know why..I MISSED my cats at tengah so much...are you all still alive?

29 October 2006

What a night...

Went to ExxonMobil D&D last night ....at Ritz Carlton...Though I am not an employee of Exxon, I got to go thanks to Grace and Lifen...and I must say I really enjoyed myself! The theme was "Retro" and it was quite funny to see pple dressing up at austin powers and elvis presley...u know who u r...haha. Nice meeting some of my old chem eng frens...didnt noe that exxon actually absorbed such a huge proportion of my cohort!

The function was really good ...sigh..if only my company is like that....Just look at the door gift!! Its so cool! A super retro radio..I loved it. The host was hilarious as well, makes the event so enjoyable. After that, the super swa ku me, finally got a chance to go visit one of the rooms in Ritz Carlton...haha..the bathroom is so nice...I must book the room next time...when I am richer.

The dancing at Double O nearly killed me...We danced from 12 to 4! Frens who know me know that I dont chiong and dont drink so yesterday night was really my most happening night to date. My whole body is aching! haha..and I am getting rashes again becos of the alcohol...damnit! I am so tired....Just finished a bowl of maggie mee...going to sleep and hopefully I will be able to wake up and be fresh for my jap class later.....zzzzzzzzzzz
Lifen, Eileen and me trying to act cute...

The three of us again..and Grace..

24 October 2006

Are you watching closely?

Watched Prestige today and learn quite abit about magic...haha. This show is not in my "Must watch" list but I lost...Majority wins....:( My frens all said no to my suggestion of watching "The Sinking of Japan" ...hmm I really wonder why ?? But anyhow, its not a bad show after all..lots of twists in the show and I think Christian Bale and Michael Caine are terrific actors...The movie kinda started slow at the beginning and I nearly fell asleep..but when they started on the rivalry between Hugh Jackman and Christian Bale, the movie really picked up and got more interesting. Although I got lost abit due to the non-linear storyline, the ending kinda answered all the questions that I have.

Holidays are always so short...the next holiday will be Christmas which is 2 months away...sigh..so its gonna be work work and more work from now on. I am so tired..I think I am losing my voice. 2 kbox sessions in a week and all the jay chou rap ...lol. I really need a rest...

Sinking of Japan ...anyone?

I need a break

After working my ass off for so many months, I finally cleared the pile of work on my desk yesterday. Today is a holiday and wednesday will be a new start! Its 8am and I am not working, but I dont know why I got up at 730...maybe I am so used to getting up early. I am still wondering what I should do today..wanted to go vivocity and watch a movie, but apparently none of my frens want to entertain me....hmmm, should I go alone?

22 October 2006

Dancing Diva....HOT!

Went kbox yesterday and saw these two super hot MVs of Jolin Tsai! She is really the dancing diva man....

Sinking of Japan!!!

Saw the trailer for the upcoming movie "Sinking of Japan" ...thought its really cool with very good effects.

21 October 2006

Buttercup.....

Met up with my ExxonMobil engineers and fellow IA frens today...Really nice to catch up with them cos I think the last time we met up was nearly a year ago. We went kbox but didnt really sing much... end up talking and gossipping the whole time....hahaha. Brought back lots of memories of my IA 2 years ago at exxon. The best time I had during my four years in NUS is not in NUS but when I was in exxon. I nearly didnt make it into exxon...haha. I still remember I was quite disappointed when I looked at the list of selected IA students and I was not on the list. But in the end I got a call telling me that I was on the standby list and I get to start earlier at the refinery in Jurong Island. Its been 2 yrs and I am glad we are still meeting up. I might even be gate-crashing their DND next week! lol.

19 October 2006

Sushi King my ass

Sushi King in Malaysia is the most un-japanese japanese restaurant! No wonder there are no Sushi King outlets in Singapore. I mean I thought Sakae is bad enough but this one is really the ultimate. Just happen to have my lunch there after my short trip to my malaysia plant on tuesday. Firstly, this is a jap restaurant that doesnt serve green tea! I ordered tori teriyaki soba, and while waiting for my food to come, I decided to observe the sushi chef. I saw him blatantly putting rice into a "sushi maker" machine and out pops the rice cubes. Then he went to the fridge and took out a styrofoam tray. From there he took out the sliced fish and put in on the rice....yeah thats Sushi King's sushi. No skill involved at all! Then my soba came and the serving size was pathetic. Like kids serving. Absolutely disgusted.

Then today I was at malaysia again and me and my manager went to a bah kut teh stall. The place was infested with flies. That I can live with but just as I was ordering..I saw a freaking huge black lizard zoom across the wall and go behind the pile of bowls which they use to serve the rice....omg. My appetite was totally gone from that very moment.

Happy Birthday to ME!

Hey Frens...thanks for remembering my birthday! Especially edward, victor, nelson, tim, susan, mag, yufen, bernard, jac, qinghuan, adrian, jeremy, vincent and ken who sent me their well wishes. Hehe. Had quite a frantic morning, trying to rush out my work before I take my half day leave. My buddy tim who took half day leave to entertain me! Of course he got his reward for doing so....haha. Free movie and dinner!

Went to watch "The Departed". Had quite high expectations for this show but ended up slightly disappointed. Not that its bad, maybe its just not good enough. Or maybe the original Infernal Affairs is just too hard to top. Personally, I thought the movie was too draggy, often out of focus and tries too hard. Too much emphasis on Jack Nicholson when the main characters should be Leo and Matt damon. They did not play on the interesting relationship between these two characters like the original, in fact in this version, the two didnt cross path until the very end. Who could forget the moment in the original where tony leung was kicked out of police school and he looked back at Andy lau who was in the squad. Sadly, the US version did not capture any of that. The ending was also kinda unnecessary. They should have just left it like the original. Oh well...a good effort though.

Went to Tim's favorite wanton mee stall at Paradiz after the movie. Although this was my third time there, it was the first time I thought the mee actually tasted good. Hahaha, maybe i was too hungry.

Every year, I have the practice of buying something for myself on my birthday. Last year I bought a pair of jeans. This year I bought a pair of shoes...

The day passed by so quickly....I am officially 26..feels kinda old. The big thirty is just four years away..OMG.

08 October 2006

One Year On.....

One year ago, on 6th October 2005...I finally ORDED...Its been a long time, since my enlistment in 22 April 1999. Although, in between I went for my 4 year course in NUS, but it really felt like I completed NS after 6 and half years. I still remember that I felt abit lost after ORD, wondering when I will get my job, whether I will like my job, whether it will be related to what I studied and whether the pay will be good... and all my frens around me already got a job really didnt help the situation. Now that one year has passed, some questions have been answered, but some not. Well, I got a job and its totally not related to chem engineering. The pay is well...okay i guess. But I am not sure if I like what I am doing. I am beginning to have new questions. Like when should I leave this company? Do I deserve better in another company? Do I really want to pursue my career in this area? I guess with every questions answered spawn new questions...it never ends. Today is 8th October 2006. I wonder what my life will be like on 8th October 2007....

Return me my clear blue sky!

Yesterday I open the door to my house to this .... The haze is really getting so bad, I wonder what caused my cough and flu for the past week...is it someone in my office who started the virus spreading or is it the haze?

The view from my lift lobby

I took this while on the train at jurong east.....only one thing come to my mind.....BLOODY IN*******ANS.

04 October 2006

Sick....

Having a combo of illness....flu, sorethroat and cough with one ulcer in the mouth..sucks man!

02 October 2006

Children's day

Its 12 mins past midnite so Children's Day is officially over. Its been 14 years since I last celebrated Children's Day, where we get a day off from school and we have to sing the "SAMA SAMA MEJUGE HADAPAN.." song. Until now I still dont know what the hell the song meant.
I still remember during Children's Day, my mum will wake me and my younger brother up early in the morning, and rush all the way down to the old Plaza Singapura to attend the annual Children's Day Carnival. They will give out goodie bags and have lots of games and entertainment for the kids. Of course being the super kiasu mum, she want us there to queue for the goodie bags. Haha...the goodie bags contain mostly foodstuff...sweets for the kids and I cant remember what else. All I remember is the queue is freaking long. Everything seems to be quite enjoyable until I went to secondary school and my mum still drag me to the carnival with my bro. As I was really small sized for my age, my mum happily pass me off as a primary school kid and forced me to queue for the goodie bag. It was kinda embaressing. Luckily the madness soon ended when she realised that I am really getting too old to be called a Primary 6 boy every year. Hmm, or is it becos Plaza Singapura closed down for major facelift? Haha, I really cant remember...but those were the days, the days of innocence...where a small bag of sweets is enough to make you happy....

Nihon Ressun No. Ichi!

I am so exhausted....Went to the gym early this morning and then went down to orchard for my first Japanese Class followed by a 4 hr karaoke session with my frens. Gosh, I think I will be so dead at work tomorrow.

Anyway jap class was really interesting. We got a very funny and Kawaii sensei. The japanese language is really alot harder than I thought. I mean, before today I only know "Ohayoo Gozaimasu" "Arigatoo Gozaimasu" and "Sumimasen" but today it was the real deal...hahaha. The Japanese words are really complicated and next week I will have my first spelling test! OH MY GOD. Homework and study again! STRESSSSSSSSSSSSSSED. But I think I am going to enjoy it.

30 September 2006

Wake me up...when september ends....

Today is the last day of September...spent a really uneventful saturday to mark the end of september. Time really flies, 12 more days to my birthday ...lol...quite buay paiseh to announce it here. 86 more days to Christmas and 92 more days left before 2007! Anyway, today I just spent the entire day lazing around, cleaning up my room, sorting out my stuff..throwing away things I dont need, and then spent the rest of the day watching videos on youtube. Haha, found a few nice videos, so I thought I will put them here.

My first favorite Korean drama before My lovely Sam-soon. This is a very nice song from the show.

Another video featuring the title song...

A funny sequence from the show featuring the "3 Bear Songs"

Another Jay chou MV. Hehehe, love this song. I wish I can "listen to my mum" more often...but what the heck.

27 September 2006

本草綱目

Isnt youtube such a wonderful website? They have such a wide range of free videos, u can spend the whole day watching them. Anyway, this Jay chou MTV is really interesting. Both the lyrics of the song and video concept are really wacky.

TRADOC

After waiting for nearly a year and hoping that Mindef will forget about me, I finally got my reservist posting on saturday. I am posted to HQ TRADOC! Heard that its the short form for Training and Doctrine. Hmm, wonder what exactly will I be doing. Best of all, my buddy Timon from my Ammo Branch days is posted there too! Hey Timon, cant seem to get rid of you eh....hahahha

Excuse me, are you Singapore Idol?

Went to the gym at CCK yesterday and bumped into Taufik Batisah. Not that its a thing to be proud of but it was just very weird...cos only yesterday the new Singapore Idol is out, and at that time the radio in the gym was playing the single by Hady and there I was...lifting weights beside the previous Singapore Idol with no screaming fans and no Big Gulps....

Malaysia escapade...part 3...Party Time!

The Birthday boys...Me and Edward

Me looking so dead...lol

Then the event of the day....Karaoke at Holiday Plaza. It was quite fun at first, but as I am not a party animal..well I dont drink, dont smoke and I cant dance, the entire event was kinda off for me. But I really appreciate you guys celebrating my birthday for me! Thanks alot!! After 3 hrs of singing was another 3 hrs of dancing. I was so tired I couldnt even move. Everyone was just crazy after drinking and some even looked like they were on drugs. ..haha.. but I looked like I was dying. After partying, I stayed over at my company hostel. Not a bad place. The only good thing about Malaysia is that the houses are freaking huge and the bloody cheap. What a day in JB. I am so glad I am back in Singapore.

24 September 2006

Malaysia escapade...part 2...A series of unfortunate events

After making my way past the custom, I have to take a cab to Jusco Terbrau City to meet my colleagues for a movie. So I replied (I dont even have to ask) one of the many "hungry" taxi drivers standing around that I want to go to Terbrau City. He gave me the fare and I thought it was fine and decided to hop into his cab...as I approached his cab, I saw him asking other passer-bys where they want to go. I was like ??? "halo uncle? I am your passenger!" I thought he got amnesia. Anyway I hopped in and I saw another passenger got in! And the taxi driver was totally unabashed about it. He turn to me and say "ON THE WAY LAH"! #$!!%

Sigh, after a series of unfortunate events, I finally arrived at Jusco Terbrau City to watch "The Banquet" Just when I thought the day couldnt get any worse, there was this super inconsiderate family with 5 kids watching the same show. What the hell were they thinking? Do they seriously think the kids, who looked like 4 to 8 yrs old will understand "The Banquet"??! Even I find it hard to understand! Predictably, they were totally uninterested in the show, and they decided to turn the theatre into their own playground. Throughout the show, they were talking loudly, screaming and running around the seats. Gosh, even my persistent "SHHHHHH" didnt work on them. Their parents are such bloody inconsiderate fuckers. Go rent Finding Nemo and watch at home!

Malaysia escapade part 1 ....An afternoon in Hell

Most of my frens know that I hate going to Malaysia. I think I just have a very bad impression of that country. But yesterday I had no choice but to attend a birthday celebration organised by my colleague in Malaysia. Well its my birthday celebration too, so I have no excuse not to go. Anyway, as I grudgingly made my way towards JB custom, I was kinda surprised to see that there were not many people at the Singapore Custom and the traffic to Jb custom was rather smooth. As my fren (U noe who u r...haha) told me that its a saturday afternoon and there will definitely be a jam, I was feeling quite lucky that there is no jam at all...until...I met with the horror at JB custom..(see pic)

I was greeted by a sea of people at the custom. I was speechless... I mean, where did all these people come from? There was hardly any queue at Spore custom, and if I am not wrong, material balance tells me that amount input = amount output... so how did so many people appear at the other side of the causeway when I didnt see much people at the Singapore side. All I can say is....fuckup organisation, inefficient people and lousy infrastructure. So in the end I spent 1 and a half hour to get my passport chopped although the distance is only about 10meters...wow maybe even a tortoise walks faster than that! There are just insufficient counters to meet the flood of people. And no proper railings to direct people to the right counter...i mean look at the picture, how do you tell where the actual queue is!? And as suay as I always am, I chose a queue that was actually a branch of an actual queue. What's worse was there was also another branch! So there were a total of three lines converging into one counter. I dont even want to go into how bad the ventilation system is.

I will not step onto JB soil ...unless absolutely necessary... especially on a saturday afternoon. Its a total nightmare.

In loving memories....My fave chicken rice at Far East

The best chicken rice I have ever tasted...is from a stall at Far East Square. 9 years ago, when I was still in jc, me and my classmates went to Far East and we had lunch at the chicken rice stall at a secluded corner at level 2. That was the first time I ate the chicken rice there and then I was hooked. This stall only serve the normal chicken not roasted chicken. For 3 bucks, u get a plate of super tender chicken, with green vegetables and also sliced ham on top of the chicken. Together with its own unique sauce, the chicken rice is just delicious! Its the only place I can have 2 plate of chicken rice at one go becos its so good! Since then, I will always go there to eat whenever I am at orchard...until one day in 2001..I went there hoping to taste my favorite chicken rice, I was shocked to see that the stall was gone! In its place, another stall selling roasted chicken rice. I was quite disappointed, but since I was already there I decided to give this new stall a try...but sadly, it sucks. I really wanted to ask the boss "excuse me, do you know where the previous stall owner went? Cos your chicken rice is really ...urm..lousy" But I decided its best to keep my mouth shut.

I thought I would not get to taste the chicken rice again. However, 3 months ago, I was having my hair cut at Far East and I was chatting with the hairstylist and for no reason, I decided to ask him if he knows where the stall went to...and to my surprise he told me the stall had moved to level 5 at...Far East Square! I was so excited I went to check it out immediately and there it was...at Far East Square all along for the past 5 years! I was so happy I get to taste the same good chicken rice I missed for 5 years. I went there almost every weekend after that. But the joy was shortlived. A month ago, I went there and was greeted by a sign that says "We are officially closed. Thank you for all your support the past 15 years" Man! I just found you and you left just like that! Well, I think I will not get to eat their chicken rice anymore. So sad.

Fate of an idol...

Today, I chanced upon an article in the Straits Times about Sylvester Sim aka SLY, the first runner-up of Singapore Idol 1. The guy who drove many girls crazy with his wink, and signature "stick out tongue" move. The article from Straits Times wrote..."His debut Mandarin album, Take Flight, released in April last year, sold only 15,000 copires here, and record label Sony BMG canned plans to launch it regionally. This month, ...his three year contract wih Hype Records, ...was terminated more than a year before it expired.." This is the fate of our Singapore idol finalists. Will this be the fate of Hady and Jonathan one year later? Very likely...

Sunday is Big Spending day!

I told myself I shouldnt spend so much this month as I have exceeded (or exploded) my budget last month ..(spent a record 2k). However, today I went Orchard, thinking that I will just do some window shopping but in the end, I spent another 100 plus, on clothes, food, a cd and a korean language book..sigh. I really should stop going out. Anyway, went to my fav place to eat pasta - Ambush at takashimaya basement 2. Its relatively cheap and the pasta taste not too bad...
My bacon and ham pasta...haha, I think it doesnt look very apetitising here but its good enough for me! Then I went for dessert at coffee club.

Got myself a triple chocolate brownie...looks good, but taste....normal. Not as nice as i hoped, should have asked for the muddy mud pie instead.

There have been quite alot of construction going on at boon lay. Thought I should take some pictures now as it will look really different in maybe 2 yrs time...

The old bus interchange has been demolished to make way for a new air-conditioned bus interchange, a Jurong point extension and also some HDB flats above the interchange. Sigh, but thats not what I really hope for. I hope they will get more buses to service my area which is so super ulu with only two bus services- one that goes from jurong pt to jurong pt and the other from jurong pt to cck. I need a direct bus to town and other parts of Singapore! The MP should really do something about my area...hey we pay taxes too ok! Alright, I havent started paying taxes..but I will be soon. Its so inconvenient to get to anywhere. We have nothing but fighter planes flying right above our heads! We should at least get some benefits for enduring those deafening noise everyday, RIGHT?

Looking back...

Early this year, I set out some goals for myself. Now 3/4 of the year have past and I realised I have not been able to achieve any one of them. Hahaha...what a shame. What have I been doing this past year? Sigh..

My Goals:

1. Save 12K for my future condominium - Only managed to save 2k and its already sept! I am 10k short! OMG....
2. Learn wakeboarding - No kaki, kept procrastinating....when will I ever start?..
3. Learn Japanese - Oh, at least I got this one. Will start my lesson on Oct 1st! hehe
4. Reach 65kg in weight - Damn, I am still 8kg away!

My lovely Sam-soon

I always thought Korean drama sucks. Always so draggy and sad complete with over the top storyline. Until a few months ago, I caught "Full House", I thought it was one of the best drama I have seen. So light hearted yet touching and the best thing is... there is a happy ending! Well, I thought no other Korean show can top that...until I watched "My Lovely Sam-soon". Really funny show. Even though the female lead Kim Sun Ah is fat and not very pretty in the show but she is so adorable! Haha...She lights up the screen everytime she appear and the chemistry between Hyun Bin and her is just amazing. The show ended last night. But I think I am going to get the dvd soon. This song is from the show, its really nice..enjoy!

My Favorite Mooncake...Yummy!

Its the time of the year again! Okay, maybe its a little bit early due to a double 7th month this year. Anyway, today I pop by Chinatown to get my favorite mooncake from the traditional and old time mooncake brand - BIG CHINA...HAHAHA. Its good, and relatively cheap compared to other brands, and the best thing is - its traditional! Not those fancy new tastes, wat green tea, durian...Its the original lotus paste..hehe..YUMMY! Look at the paper bag. Its still so old fashion. Dont think you can find this kind of paper bag anywhere else now. I like the pandan "Ping Pi" one best! Its soft texture and fragrant pandan smell just makes me want to finish one after another. Going to enjoy it now. Slurp!

依然范特西

Ever since 2003, the release of Jay chou's album is kind of an event of the year for me. Maybe because there arent many albums to look forward to nowadays. Today, I finally got my copy of Jay's latest album....<依然范特西>. Well, to many people, his songs are kinda formulaic, but if it aint broke why fix it? He has his own style and he keeps re-inventing himself without deviating much from his style. From the mysterious and suspenseful opening song 夜的第七章 to the very "old shanghai" 千里之外 and the bossa nova style 迷迭香, his latest album still surprises. Of course there are the very sentimental, very jay chou numbers like 退后, 心雨 and 白色风车. I especially like the lyrics he wrote for 听妈妈的话, very meaningful and very heartfelt. For people who constantly lambaste his diction, go listen to 菊花台. He managed every single word with such correctness in pronunciation that you might think its not Jay singing. Anyway, overall a very good album, though not his very best. I guess its the start of another year long wait for his next album. Meanwhile these 10 songs will be able to fill the void just fine.

Good riddance...HAHA

I never caught an entire single episode of Singapore Idol 2, only bits. I thought taufik and sylvester were bad, but this season it is just horrible. I am so glad its going to be over soon. What exactly is Singapore Idol? A 7 -eleven representative? Someone that goes dancing and say "Have a BIG GULP!" in a commercial? Hmm, taufik had one album, won a really dubious 'favorite male artiste' award at the Asia MTV awards and scored countless 7 eleven ads. Sylvester flopped in taiwan, and disappeared. Olinda is still busy slimming down. Makes me wonder can we really find a kelly clarkson or clay aiken in Singapore....Even if we did manage to find one, maybe at Singapore Idol 128, is he able to break into the international market? I mean, come on, the biggest international star we have is Fann wong...haha, and that itself is laughable. Well back to Singapore Idol 2. Last week, the controversial Joakim gomez went out. Poor guy, he really cant sing, but at least he has looks. But whose fault is it that he made it to the top 12? The judges who condemned him every single week should look back at the recordings and see that they were the ones who put him through in the first place! What were they thinking then? Why the sudden change in opinion? The remaining ones are not great singers either, and they dont have the looks too.

Just a look at Paul Twohill send a chill down my spine. Am I watching a re-run of Sadako on ch 5? or is it the Ju-on? Can david gan please save this guy? His hair is so oily he looks like he didnt shampoo for years! Wonder if he will die of his own stinky hair when they cover his whole face. Maybe he has a good reason for covering his face, cos that is one scary face. And damn ch 5 have to make me see him every wed, thurs, and every 15 mins when the trailers are showing. Thank god! Today he is gone....finally! Out of Singapore Idol. Finally I need not have nightmares anymore. Now that Singapore idol is ending, I just wonder how many more singing competitions can go on before the limited pool of talent in singapore runs out. I mean, some day maybe even Steven Lim will be the next Singapore Idol...if he keep trying! But for now, I am glad that at least we still have Stefanie Sun.

The sun, the sand and the sea and a fucking angmoh

After weeks of procrastination and asking around for people to go sentosa with me, I finally decided to go there on my own. I know its kinda dumb but its better than rotting at home. It makes me wonder why all my frens are so "unsporty".....like none of them are interested in a game of beach volley. Anyhow, I wanted to get a tan for a long time cos I am looking so fair recently its freaky. So I went to sentosa alone, lied down on the beach while everyone else is either playing beach volleyball, swimming or playing frisbee. Once in a while, I attracted strange glances from passerby like...why is this person lying there alone? But isnt the beach for people to lie around and get a tan?
So I just stayed there for two hrs, looking up once in a while hoping that those people who walk their dog past me will not let their dog pee on me. After 2 uneventful hours, I decided to leave. While on the bus, I noticed all the construction going on. The new LRT tracks, the new stations, a new theatre at the beach. Quite excited to visit again when its all done to try out the new LRT and also visit VIVOCITY! Hopefully I wont be alone again.

After that I went to Orchard to get my ipod nano with my fren. We were at the "try out" station and my fren who was too eager to reach for one ipod on display, grab one that was being used by an Ang moh standing there. My fren apologised and that fucking Ang moh stared at him like he just murdered his mother! Whats his problem? I mean its not even your ipod in the first place, fucker! I always thought Ang mohs are very frenly people with good manners, guess I just met one who totally destroyed my perception of them. I tot that was bad enough, but on my way home, I realised my face is as red as a roasted pig!...OMG, damnit I got sunburnt again! Every single time! Why doesnt it happen to those people who play volleyball everyweek there. Man, I was there for only 2 hours! Hope by tomorrow, it will be better.

A new beginning...

Hmm, I dont see anything interesting I can blog about in my totally mundane life...but anyhow, after much persuasion by my dear fren Mr LJL...aka Timon, I have decided to follow the trend and start my own blog. Hope I am not too late since everyone started blogging eons ago and only now I am writing one of my own. But I know I am only one day later than someone....hahahaha.
